Bye week fun: Bruins attempt Boston accents
Share
A handful of members from the Boston Bruins took time out of their bye week to have a little fun.
Attempting to fit in with fellow Bostonians, John Moore, Noel Acciari, Charlie McAvoy, Jake DeBrusk and David Backes, each took a crack at saying a teammate’s name in native Bostonian slang…i.e. Brad Mahhchand.
The playful banter was reminiscent of every kid growing up in the Greater Boston area trying to pretend that they had an accent. Either that or grown men saying ridiculous statements about their favorite sports teams over a Dunkin iced coffee.
Acciari and McAvoy had no problem assimilating into the culture both having attended New England schools. Moore, on the other hand, struggled to grasp the concept.
Backes, however, took the cake with his attempts. The 34-year-old put his own spin on things with his hilarious descriptions of fellow teammates.
"Kevan Millah? Get that guy in the cornah…he'll throw you around and eat you for dinnah."

There’s still time for Moore to grasp the Bostonian accent. After all, this is only his first season in his new home.
Backes, meanwhile, would fit pretty well in Great Britain — if only the Brits had a rich hockey culture as they do here in Bahhston.
Backes, Moore and the rest of the Bruins return from their bye week next Tuesday when they welcome the highly-skilled Winnipeg Jets to TD Garden.
