Jarome Iginla arrives in Providence

Between the Nick Holden trade and a future member of the Hockey Hall of Fame arriving in Providence, Tuesday was far from boring for the Boston Bruins.
Though no official details have been announced, Jarome Iginla donned a P-Bruins practice jersey in his first appearance with the Baby B’s. The former Bruin and longtime captain of the Calgary Flames resumed his on-ice activity four months after hip surgery.

Iginla, who left Boston for the Colorado Avalanche after his one year with the Bruins in 2013-14 — and was acquired by the Kings at last year’s trade deadline — remains unsigned. Despite not skating for nearly a year, the 40-year-old hopes to keep his career going in search of that coveted Stanley Cup that’s eluded him throughout his legendary 20-year career.
At the age of 37, Iginla skated with David Krejci and Milan Lucic en route to his last 30-goal season in 2013-14. Since departing Boston, the 1995 first round pick tallied 65 goals in three seasons with the Avs and Kings.
For a team looking for a slight goal-scoring upgrade at the trade deadline, Iginla and his 1,300 career points (625 goals, 675 assists), would come at a much cheaper cost than some of the other rumored wingers on the market, including Evander Kane and Rick Nash.
Whether a reunion with Krejci — and Boston — is in the works anyone’s guess. But Iginla’s arrival to Providence adds another intriguing trade deadline storyline.
