Game Day Preview: Bruins at Coyotes
Share
With two games left in this five-game-in-seven-day stretch, the Bruins are one win away from going above .500 this week. They’ll have two chances to get a winning record in this span, beginning tonight in Arizona against the Coyotes.
Over the last three games, the Bruins have outscored their opponents, 11-5. Eight of those 11 goals have come outside of the Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron-David Pastrnak trio with four tallies also coming on the power play. These were both something that Claude Julien and company wanted to improve on during their busy week and they have done just that entering this weekend’s back-to-back slate against the Coyotes and Avalanche.
Against a Coyotes team that is allowing an average of 3.62 goals per game (second most in the league only behind Philadelphia), the Bruins look to showcase their scoring depth again tonight in Glendale.

Tonight’s storylines
– Once again, the Bruins hit the road for a multi-game road trip. Tonight marks the third time that the Black and Gold leave Boston for at least three games. In comparison, the Bruins have only had one three-game homestand so far and won’t have another one of those until they face the Ducks, Kings and Islanders in mid-December.
– Two Bruins got on the board for the first time this season in Thursday’s 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets. Torey Krug and Matt Beleskey each notched goal No. 1 of 2016-17. Beleskey snapped a skid of 16 straight games without a goal while Krug ended his 14-game drought without lighting the lamp. Will Jimmy Hayes be next? He enters tonight’s game having gone 28 straight without tallying a single goal or assist.
– With another slate of back-to-backs beginning tonight, Julien will likely split the goaltending duties with Tuukka Rask and Zane McIntyre or Anton Khudobin who practiced with the team for the first time since suffering a hand injury at practice a few weeks ago. Given that there is no morning skate today, we’ll find out at gametime who Julien goes with to start this three-game road trip.
– Outside of Khudobin, the Bruins provided a couple of other roster updates before jetting out west. Kevan Miller didn’t travel with the team to start the trip as he is nursing a knee injury. The veteran blue-liner is skating on his own again so time will only tell when he becomes available to suit up again. The Black and Gold also recalled Sean Kuraly from Providence to fill in as the extra forward on the trip as Noel Acciari will miss the next four weeks with a lower body injury.
