NASHVILLE — Last year, Predators defefnseman Shea Weber came within a hair of edging Zdeno Chara’s record for the hardest shot in skills competition history. In front of his hometown fans, Weber was bound to break the record in front of his hometown fans.
Recording a shot of 108.5 during last year’s All-Star weekend in Columbus, ‘Smashville’ was bound to see a new record from their captain.
Following a shot just north of 105 MPH, Weber’s second attempt came close to Chara’s record again at 108.1 MPH. Following chants of “one more shot” from Predators fans, Weber got one more shot, but couldn’t break his second attempt, firing a shot of 107.8.

While Chara’s record still holds strong, Weber still gave his fans something to cheer about. This will certainly not be his last chance, either. Perhaps we’ll see the record broken at next year’s All Star game in Los Angeles.
