Road to the Winter Classic: Episode 3

Airing for the final time before the two meet in Friday’s Winter Classic, the third episode of Epix’s Road to the Winter Classic featured a lot of off-ice look-ins to the lives of several Bruins and Canadiens.
The on-ice stuff was pretty entertaining as well. From the Bruins third period collapse to the Buffalo Sabres to the Canadiens continuing struggles, episode 3 was arguably the best thus far.
Here are some highlights from Episode 3:
Subban and Weise recap rough outing
At the beginning of the show, P.K. Subban and Dale Weise are seen eating breakfast watching highlights from the previous night on the NHL network when the highlights of their loss to the Stars are shown. Hearing Subban and Weise questioning themselves for decisions made the night before was interesting to see.

Fenway the dog:
“She misses me right now, we just went on a couple day road trip. I got to make sure I spoil her so that she doesn’t pout when I get home.”
One would think Bruins’ defenseman Torey Krug would be talking about his wife, but that was not the case. In one of the opening scenes Krug and forward David Krejci are seen roaming around Newbury Street shopping for Christmas presents. Stopping inside of Paws!
Krug made sure Fenway’s first Christmas was a memorable one. Later in the show, Epix was kind enough to show us Fenway opening Christmas presents on his own.
Julien not a fan of Ryan Reaves
In their physical affair with the St. Louis Blues, things were getting chippy as the game progressed. After seeing Ryan Reaves continuously get under the skin of Bruins forward, head coach Claude Julien had a little chat with some of the officials on duty that evening.
“Reaves is ******* whacking our best players, so I don’t know if you want our guys to give him the message or,” Julien barked at the officials.
Later in the game and in the episode we see Tyler Randell drop the gloves with Reaves. It looks like the referees wanted the Bruins to give him the message.
Hayes’ household welcomes everybody
If there is one thing we’ve learned about the Hayes family through three episodes it’s that they are one tight family. Opening their doors for family, friends and teammates of Jimmy’s, Christmas Eve was a packed one for the Hayes’ in their Dorchester home. Jimmy was not the only NHL forward in attendance for Christmas Eve as brother Kevin (New York Rangers) and Matt Beleskey made sure to jump in on the fun of the Christmas festivities.
Players from both sides show family ties
With the teams on Christmas break for three days, most NHL players were able to head home and spend the holidays with family. For those of you looking for a closer look inside the home of some the Canadiens and Bruins players, this was your chance. From Tuukka Rask to Max Pacioretty to both P.K. and Malcolm Subban, the close look inside the homes was in full force.
