Weekly 3 Stars: December 7-13, 2015

This week, we have a little different tone to Weekly 3 Stars as we focus on the three Bruins who made the biggest impact during a week which they went 2-1-0. Let’s waste no more time and get straight to this week’s honorees.
*** Loui Eriksson
Regardless whether he is on the scoresheet or not, Eriksson is providing some sort of impact on a nightly basis. Whether he’s establishing a tempo offensively or helping the transition from defense to offense, the former Dallas Star is contributing in more ways than one.
On Wednesday, Eriksson scored the tying goal in Montreal on a shorthanded breakaway after Zdeno Chara sent him to the races after batting the puck in mid-air. With Jeff Petry back-checking, Eriksson went hard to the net and beat Mike Condon before taking a spill to the boards. That effort sparked the Bruins bench and gave them the momentum they needed going forward en route to their biggest win of the season, 3-1.
With 11 goals in 29 games, Eriksson is one of two Bruins who have double-digit goal totals — the other being Brad Marchand, who has a team-leading 15 goals. He’s the healthiest he’s ever been as a Bruin. No doubt, he’ll get a raise when his contract expires at the end of the season, but there’s no denying that his presence is one critical area for the success of the Black and Gold.
** Ryan Spooner
Sure, he had a blunder in the 3-on-3 overtime against the Oilers, proving that he still needs to work on his defense. But that doesn’t deny the fact that Spooner is finding ways to contribute in other areas.
In three games last week, the 2010 second round pick tallied a pair of goals in the B’s 3-1 win over the Panthers and added an assist against the Predators and Canadiens. His first goal against Florida at 11:35 of the first period broke a streak of 20 straight games where he failed to score a goal at even strength.
While he might not be intimidating at 5’10 and 184 pounds, Spooner can still find ways to get to the dirty areas without being overly physical. He’s also driving to the front of the net more, and that’s something that head coach Claude Julien and company preach. The more engaged Spooner is, the better he’ll be in the long run.
* Tuukka Rask
In two appearances last week, Rask allowed only two goals and won both his games. Over his last eight games, the Finnish netminder is returning to his roots from his 2014 Vezina Trophy winning season; going 6-0-2 with a 1.57 GAA and a save percentage of .952. More importantly, he is staying calm, cool and collected during crunch time and providing his team with crucial saves when they need it the most.
Rask has seen a little improvement from the defense in front of him during this stretch. He’s also helping his team out and giving the B’s a chance to win on a nightly basis as of late. That can only mean good things for Tuukka and company.
