Game Day Preview: Sharks at Bruins
Share
After securing just their second home win of the season Saturday night against the Detroit Red Wings, the Bruins will look for back-to-back wins on home ice for the first time this season when they host the San Jose Sharks Tuesday night.
Saturday night marked game two of their five-game homestand that carries through next Saturday. After dropping three in a row against the Stars, Capitals and Canadiens, the Bruins have won two of their last three. Saturday’s 3-1 win over the Wings was one of the Bruins most complete efforts of the season. Tuukka Rask made 31 saves, and the Bruins got goals from Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Torey Krug.
The Sharks come into Boston with wins in their last two including Saturday’s 2-1 overtime victory against the Buffalo Sabres. The Sharks are on their third stop on a season-high six-game road trip.

Matchup to watch: Martin Jones meets the Boston Bruins
No disrespect to Colin Miller but Martin Jones was the biggest name sent to Boston in the deal that shipped Milan Lucic out west to the Los Angeles Kings. Jones spent five days as a Bruin before being dealt to the Sharks for a first-round pick and the rights to Sean Kuraly.
Jones spent his tenure in the Kings system as either the backup to two-time Stanley Cup winning Jonathan Quick or the starter for the Kings AHL affiliate in Manchester. Seeing brief time as the starter in the 2013-14 season due to injuries, the then rookie Jones performed very well, winning his first eight career NHL starts.
Now the starter in San Jose, Jones is making the most of his opportunity with eight wins and a 2.11 goals-against average. Jones is expected to get the nod tonight against his well, former team. It will be Jones’ first career start against the Bruins.

After the Bruins held an optional skate this morning at TD Garden, head coach Claude Julien told the media that all eight of the Bruins defensemen are available for tonight. With Miller back and ready to take the ice, Julien will have some decisions to make.
Defensively, the Bruins played well Saturday night. It may be best for Julien to stick with what worked against a pretty talented Red Wings squad. Zach Trotman replaced Miller Saturday night and played very well in just over 20 minutes of ice time.
Having eight defensemen all ready to go and capable of hefty minutes is a good problem for the Bruins coaching staff to have.
