    Weekly 3 Stars: November 2-8, 2015

    Although they could only muster one win in their tough four-game slate last week, there were still plenty of noteworthy accomplishments for a few Bruins. With that in mind, let’s waste little time and reveal the Weekly 3 Stars for the week of November 2-8, 2015.

    *** Rene Rancourt

    From his stellar renditions of the Star Spangled Banner — and, at times, the Canadian National Anthem — to his glorious fist pumps, Rene Rancourt has entertained Bruins fans on and off the ice for years. And thanks to his generosity, Rancourt will once again be a special guest for this year’s Frosted Fall Benefit for the Boston Bruins Foundation and Good Sports, held this Friday at the Boston Exchange Conference Center in the Seaport District.

    The legendary Bruins anthem singer has a message to all Bruins fans to come to this year’s Frosted Fall:

    All proceeds from the night of fun and entertainment will go to help disadvantaged kids get in the game of hockey. General Admission tickets go for $30 while a gold ticket for $125 gets you a meet and greet with Rancourt, Bruins alumni, two-time Olympic silver medalist Molly Schaus, the Bruins Ice Girls and more. ** Claude Julien

    Before the season, the ninth year Bruins bench boss was the subject of hot seat rumors. That speculation could grow over time if the team continues their up and down trend during the first month of the season, but there’s no denying that he has the respect among his peers.

    Last week, Julien was announced as one of the assistant coaches for Team Canada in next year’s World Cup of Hockey. He will be joined by fellow assistants Joel Quenneville (head coach of Chicago), Barry Trotz (Washington), Bill Peters (Carolina) and head coach Mike Babcock (Toronto).

    Regardless of his future in Boston, Julien’s tenure in the National Hockey League and international competition is far from over.

    * Frank Vatrano

    Following an impressive Training Camp, East Longmeadow native and former UMass Minuteman Frank Vatrano was sent down to Providence to fine tune his game. What followed for Vatrano was 10 goals in the P-Bruins’ first 10 games and his first career call-up.

    Making his Boston debut Saturday night in Montreal, Vatrano fired three shots on net and tallied his first career NHL goal in over 14 minutes of ice time. The Bruins could not finish the job against the archrival Canadiens, but Vatrano wasted little time making his mark.

    Although Vatrano didn’t get on the scoresheet against the Islanders in Brooklyn on Sunday, he still made an impact with David Krejci and Loui Eriksson, firing five shots on goal, while delivering two hits and two takeaways in the 2-1 victory.

    Even when David Pastrnak (foot) returns to the lineup, it’s safe to say that Vatrano has earned his spot on the Bruins roster for the time being. Whether he stays with Krejci and Eriksson or moves to another line is a question that Julien and the coaching staff will need to answer.
