Bruins officially eliminated from postseason

Last year, the Boston Bruins won the Presidents Trophy but suffered a shocking elimination in the second round by the hated Montreal Canadiens. One year later, without the likes of Jarome Iginla and Johnny Boychuk, they won’t be returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Throughout the 2014-15 regular season, the Bruins have left some key points on the table with losses to bottom feeding teams like the Sabres, Oilers, Maple Leafs and Hurricanes. Still, with three games left, they had full control of their postseason fate, but with losses to the Capitals and Panthers on back-to-back nights, and with the Senators jumping them in the standings, they found themselves on the outside looking in of a playoff spot entering their final game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The B’s needed help from both the Flyers and the Sabres to have any hope of making the postseason. Philadelphia fell to those red-hot Sens as Ottawa clinched a playoff berth on Saturday afternoon. The Penguins clinched the final postseason spot in the Eastern Conference with a win over the Sabres in Buffalo.
In a fitting way to end this roller coaster season, the Bruins lost in a shootout to the Lightning, 3-2 after their postseason fate was decided.
The rumors of Peter Chiarelli and Claude Julien’s job security will heat up in the next couple of days. One thing is for certain, the future of the Boston Bruins is a little uncertain after missing out on the postseason for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
I hope they at least keep the coach. Coach Julian is a good one. In an age when players are no more than spoiled millionaire brats. I always thought the Bruin players came to work hard every game, 100% no matter what they’re being paid. I am from Calgary, but I have bled black & gold since 1966-67 when I discovered Orr. I despise the flames intensely. I will always support the Bruins even though |I have never been able to go to a home game, and I refuse to support the flames at all.
