Just as he was to start a new chapter in his career – and perhaps give the Boston Bruins a shot in the arm – Brett Connolly has suffered another setback.
The sixth overall pick of the 2010 NHL Draft is out six weeks after suffering a displaced fracture in his right index finger during Wednesday’s practice at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington. Connolly left practice early after taking a shot from Dennis Seidenberg to the hand.
TSN personalty and former Bruin Aaron Ward was the first to report the news on Twitter. A few minutes later, the Bruins officially tweeted out the extent of Connolly’s injury.

Connolly was projected to play as on the top three lines and skated with Loui Eriksson and Carl Soderberg at Wednesday’s practice. He was acquired from the Lightning at the early hours of Monday morning in exchange for two second round draft picks – one in 2015 and the other in 2016.
