    Second period:

A penalty filled first half to the period resulted in some exciting back and forth action for both teams. With the Bruins down a man thanks to a bench minor for too many men, the Blackhawks had a very good power play, but Rask (and the post) came up huge with some key saves to keep the Bruins lead at one.

The line of Milan Lucic, Ryan Spooner and David Pastrnak have been solid through two. The speed of Spooner and Pastrnak have helped free space for Lucic. The line combined for the Bruins third goal of the game.

Brian Ferlin continues to impress. Using his strength to win a puck battle along the boards, Ferlin setup Gregory Campbell who extended the Bruins lead to three, and helped chase Corey Crawford from the game.

    First period:

The Bruins got off to the start they so desperately needed. Three minutes into the opening frame, Reilly Smith connected with Patrice Bergeron on a beautiful feed and Bergeron tallied his 200th goal of his career, but more importantly gave the Bruins an early 1-0 lead. The play started on a nice rush and move by Brad Marchand and concluded with Bergeron’s goal.  The goal came on only the second shot of the game for the Black and Gold.

On their first power play of the game, the Bruins extended their lead to two. Torey Krug’s shot from the faceoff circle deflected off the skate of Loui Eriksson.

Strange period for Tuukka Rask. Through the first 19 and a half minutes Rask looked locked in, making 11 saves including a stop on Kris Versteeg who raced in all alone and a post-to-post double pad stack early in the first. With just eight seconds left in regulation, Rask was called for delay game as he played the puck outside of the trapezoid. The Hawks immediately scored on the man advantage with just 1.4 left to cut the Bruins lead to one. Rask was also called for a slash as Toews scored on the power play.
