Reunited and it feels so good

Despite three wins in their last four contests, the Bruins have been juggling lines around a bit. That was no different Saturday night as the Bruins defeated the New York Islanders for the second time in just over a week.
After starting on a line with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, Loui Eriksson was moved back to his familiar position on the Bruins third line alongside Chris Kelly and Carl Soderberg shortly into the third period of a tied game. The move paid off for head coach Claude Julien as Eriksson broke the tie 12:26 into the third. Soderberg and Kelly both picked up assists on the game-winning goal.
“Yeah, I’m used to playing with them and it seems like anytime they put us together we find a way to score a goal so that was a big play and a big goal to get the lead and you know, win the game,” said Eriksson.
When moved up and down the lineup, Kelly, Soderberg and Eriksson have been decent, but the three forwards are at their best when they’re skating on a line together.
“Well yeah I mean, as I mentioned before, I’m going to move parts around when I feel that I need to and then there’s some chemistry there for at least a year and a half, almost two years,” Julien said. “I didn’t feel that we were getting a lot of offense and so I had to move some parts around. Putting them together, I felt confident that they would be able to generate some offense and they did.”
The trio has been the Bruins most consistent line when placed together. Soderberg and Eriksson rank second and third respectively on the team in points.
Eriksson’s game winning tally wasn’t the only bright spot that came from the Soderberg line. Late in the third period with Islanders’ goalie Chad Johnson on the bench for the extra attacker and the Islanders trying to tie the game at two, Kelly once again came up huge.
Kelly stepped in front a “Johnny Rocket” from old friend Johnny Boychuk. A blocked shot you say is not the big of a deal, well just ask Kelly’s teammates.
“Hey, I didn’t want to stop that,” goalie Tuukka Rask said of Boychuk’s shot. “I saw who was shooting and that’s why I was so happy for it. You need that. Important moments of the game you need to sacrifice and it was good to see that. I think he [Kelly] is alright though.”
It wasn’t an easy one for Kelly to block, but Kelly knows how to do whatever it takes to earn two points for the team. Kelly certainly knew whose stick the puck was coming off of.
“Oh yeah, unfortunately. It would have been nice if it was someone else, but he got me last game I think in New York too, so that’s part of it,” Kelly stated.
The Bruins are right back at it Sunday as they host the Montreal Canadiens. No one really knows what the lines will look like, not even Daniel Paille.
“No, I mean your guess is as good as mine. So for me I’m preparing myself to play the game with my regular line, and if things change then things change,” said Paille. “But like I said before, Claude [Julien] has been changing the lines a lot more this year than in the past, and you’ve just got to be ready wherever you are.”
