Milan Lucic had six goals and 12 assists in 39 games before new CEO Charlie Jacobs called out his team for their unacceptable performance.

The left-winger was scoreless since he scored on December 16th against the Predators and before that goal, November 28th when he scored against the Winnipeg Jets. Lucic responded to the criticism this week from Jacobs by engineering two assists against the Penguins in a 3-2 overtime win including the game-winning assist. Then, he followed that performance up against the Devils with two goals.

His four point week was a team high. He also sported a plus-4 rating pushing his season total to a plus-6 ranking him fifth on the team.

On Boston.com: Bruins feeding off an engaged and energized Lucic

It was a different Lucic this week as the Bruins rolled to three straight victories. He was using his body, skating with a purpose, moving his feet and throwing pucks on net. His first power-play goal against the Devils resulted from him moving his feet and creating space where he then riffled off a dart that beat Corey Schneider top shelf.

Lucic averaged 18 minutes of ice time over the past week. He threw seven shots on net while looking like a completely different player.

Late last month, fans wanted Lucic out of town due to his high price tag, but as of late as the Black and Gold found their identity, it’s not a coincidence that Lucic is starting to pile up the points.

It’s possible that his line mates made an impact as well in his turnaround as head coach Claude Julien paired Lucic with Daniel Paille and Patrice Bergeron.

Bergeron spoke about his chemistry with Lucic and Paille after the Devils game last Thursday night.

“I think we keep creating chemistry and chances are there,” Bergeron said after his team’s 3-0 win. “Tonight we were matching up against their top line. We had to talk a lot in our zone in order to do the job defensively and then go on the attack. I thought we did a good job of that. Dan was moving his feet and created some chances for us by us hitting him wide and Looch (Milan Lucic) was using his body, so that made things easy for him.”

The 26 year-old now has eight goals and 14 assists on the season in 42 games played. It’s by no means an accomplishment, but the abrupt change in his style of play over the last week is what Bruins’ fans should be excited about. He is starting to turn the switch. He needs to remain this consistent if the B’s want to keep rattling off wins.

Lucic and the B’s will look to gain more ground in the Eastern conference Tuesday night when Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning roll into town.
