Game Day preview: Senators at Bruins
Share
Still looking to move over the .500 mark for the first time since opening night, the Bruins will get a chance to do just that Saturday night when they host the Ottawa Senators. The B’s are coming in off an unimpressive 3-2 overtime win in Buffalo Thursday night.
After a hot start to the season, the Senators head in Boston losers of three of their last four including their most recent loss to the Chicago Blackhawks Thursday night in the shootout.
Despite playing three more games than Ottawa, the Bruins and Senators are both tied for fourth in the Atlantic Division with 12 points.

Who to watch for Bruins: Brad Marchand
With the Bruins struggling, Claude Julien mixed things up on his bottom three lines against the Sabres. One of those changes was moving Marchand to the left of Carl Soderberg and Loui Eriksson. The move immediately paid off as Marchand had his best game of the season Thursday night. Marchand scored the game-tying and game-winning goals against the Sabres and had arguably his best game of the season.
Marchand has had a slow start to the season with just six points, but two new linemates could be exactly what the doctor ordered. Keep an eye on Marchand tonight as he looks to build off his three-point performance.
On Boston.com: Marchand’s performance a sigh of relief
Who to watch for Senators: Clarke MacArthur
With four points in his last two games, MacArthur is heating up at a time that the Senators really need it. The veteran forward is coming off a season where he netted a career high 24 goals and seems to be poised to set a new career high. Playing alongside Kyle Turris and Bobby Ryan is working for the 29-year old MacArthur. Expect MacArthur and his line to see a lot of Patrice Bergeron tonight.
Gameday Edge: Fast start
In their last two contests, the Bruins have come out sloppy. As a result they’ve fallen behind early in the first.
As the Bruins battle with injuries, things will be a lot easier for the Black and Gold if they can come out of the gate and set the tone early with a solid opening 20 minutes. Full 60 minute efforts have been hard to come by of late. In order to get back to full 60-minute efforts, the B’s need to be better in the first period.
