The Bruins return to TD Garden tonight to kick off the 2014-15 regular season as they host the Philadelphia Flyers Wednesday night. After a disappointing early playoff exit a season ago, the Bruins are looking to get back to basics and are searching for another deep playoff run.

Due to injuries to David Krejci and Gregory Campbell the Bruins lineup is a little different then what they had expected their opening night lineup to look like.

Here is your Bruins Daily gameday preview.

Who to watch for Bruins: Torey Krug

With the departure of fan favorite Johnny Boychuk, there will be a lot of eyes on the Bruins’ blueline tonight. A lot of those eyes will be focused on Torey Krug. Missing the first few weeks of training camp due to a contract dispute, Krug is behind the rest of his teammates heading into opening night.

Expected to take his place on the Bruins’ third defensive paring next to Adam McQuaid, it will be interesting to see what kind of shape Krug is in. Although he did play in a few preseason games after signing a one-year deal with the club, Krug hasn’t gotten much game action.

With Matt Bartkowski waiting in the wings, Krug can’t afford to struggle coming out of the gate If he plans on holding down a roster spot each game.

Who to watch for Flyers: Claude Giroux

Last season it took Claude Giroux 16 games to score his first goal of the season. After notching his first of the season, Giroux took off, scoring 28 times total. After a slow start a year ago, Giroux certainly will look to start the season off on the right foot. One of the leagues deadliest snipers, Giroux is always a threat to light the lamp. Giroux will surely see a lot of Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron as the Bruins look to keep the Flyers’ Captain off the board.

GameDay Edge: Getting off to a fast start

The last time we saw the Boston Bruins, they were struggling to get off to a fast start against the Montreal Canadiens. Falling behind early in games ultimately killed the Bruins as they were ousted in seven games by their long-time rivals. With a new season upon them, the Bruins will look to change their ways from last season and get themselves an early lead.
