Bobby Orr pays #RE2PECT to Derek Jeter

Say what you want about the overhyping of Derek Jeter’s farewell tour or his status among the all-time greats in New York Yankees history, but there are very few modern day baseball players that deserve a proper send off. The Boston Red Sox, and Boston sports captains, helped give Jeter his proper farewell in his last game of his 20-year career.
Among many of the fine tributes to Jeter, Bruins great Bobby Orr was on hand to pay respect (or #RE2PECT) to No. 2 at Fenway Park on Sunday afternoon. Longtime Patriot Troy Brown and ex-Celtic Paul Pierce were also on hand for Jeter’s tribute.

Jeter finished the day 1-for-2, including an RBI single in his final career at-bat. All in all it was not a bad week for Jeter, who ended his Yankee Stadium career with a walk-off RBI single against the Orioles earlier in the week.
For the lucky fans who made the trek to Yawkey Way this afternoon, Orr’s appearance was just a small gesture during a pretty impressive ceremony.
