The biggest piece that came back to Boston in the Tyler Seguin blockbuster deal was talented winger Loui Eriksson.

Eriksson totaled 150 goals and 207 assists in 501 NHL games for the Dallas Stars and will be slated in to play alongside Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand on the Bruins second-line.

“He’s a 27 year-old left shot right wing,” General Manager Peter Chiarelli said. “He plays both equally well. He’s put up a lot of goals for Dallas over the years and he’s played internationally well for Sweden. He’s 6’3 about 195 with good speed. He’s very responsible defensively also.”

Eriksson had a no-trade clause, but he waived it to join the Black and Gold on the Fourth of July.

“It was an easy decision for me to make that decision to go and play with Boston,” Eriksson said. “I know it’s a good team. They really wanted me too. I’m really looking forward to it.”

The Swedish forward looks forward to playing hockey in a big market and getting to the playoffs on a yearly basis-a thing that was hard to come by while playing in Dallas.

“It will definitely be different than Dallas,” Eriksson said. “That’s for sure. The Bruins have been one of the best teams in the league for the last two years. I’m just looking forward to doing what I can to help them get into the playoffs and try to win a Cup.”

Eriksson admitted he had a “down” season in the lockout year, but he is ready to bounce back in a big way for the B’s come start of this upcoming season.

“It was a weird year,” Eriksson said. “I played a lot of different lines and never really got that full confidence. I’m looking forward to getting ready and having a good season in Boston.”

Eriksson is coming off a season where he scored 12 goals and  chipped in with 17 assists in 48 games and has scored over 25 goals in four of his seven NHL seasons.

Eriksson was shipped up to Boston with Joe Morrow, Riley Smith and Matt Fraser in exchange for former second-overall pick Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button.

More good news from acquiring Eriksson is he is the utmost professional much to the chagrin of Tyler Seguin whose lifestyle off the ice was brought into question as well as his commitment to hockey.

Eriksson has three years left on his contract at a $4.25 million cap hit. He should fit in nicely in Claude Julien’s system.

Bruins fans will love him.
