Over 600 puck fans came to celebrate the return of the National Hockey League and the Boston Bruins for the Hockey Resurrection Party Thursday night at The Harp along with special guests Shawn Thornton, Lyndon Byers, Mike “Behind the Mike” Callahan, CSNNE Bruins Insider Joe Haggerty and Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely, Bruins radio play-by-play man Dave Goucher and the legendary Rene Rancourt.
From all of us at Bruins Daily fellow bloggers and co-sponsors Day’s of Y’Orr and Boston Sports Then & Now/Big Bad Bruins to 98.5 The Sports Hub, SupahFans Streetwear and the fine event organizers from Ring Communications, we want to thank everyone for showing up last night. It was truly great to see everyone back in the hockey spirit and we are all looking forward to the puck dropping Saturday night against the Rangers at the TD Garden.
More after the jump including Rene’s star spangled banner and extended local media coverage
The crowd started to line up early at Hockey Resurrection. Here is how the Harp looked right before showtime.
Of course many of them lined up early to see Rene perform his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Rancourt also had a few words to share with the crowd.
Shawn Thornton took a question and answer from the fans with Haggs asking the questions. Your’s truly might also have lent a helping hand (hmmmmmm).
Then came the SupahFan contest, where I was also one of the judges for the biggest SupahFan along with Justin Aucoin (Days of Y’Orr) and Joe Gill (Boston Sports Then and Now), while Jen Royle (owner of SportsReelBoston.com) and Barstool Sports‘ Bruins blogger Real Admiral judged the sexiest SupahFan portion.
The finalists for the Biggest SupahFan gathered with Gill for a picture.
And the winner had a few moments to snap a pic with Rene…
…Who was also quite the hit.
After the night ended, Hockey Resurrection got some good pub from NECN (video below) and Boston.com provided a photo gallery. Be sure to read the recaps from Days Of Y’Orr and Boston Sports Then & Now.
Again thank you for coming out for an eventful occasion. Time to drop the puck!
