Playing a major role in the Providence Bruins shootout victory over the St. Johns IceCaps, Ryan Spooner put the Baby B’s ahead in the game in regulation and then scored the only goal in the shootout taking home this week’s BruinsDaily Providence Player of the Week honors.
Spooner is tied for the team lead in goals (four) and is only second in assists with eight (Chris Bourque-10). He is tied in total points with Bourque. Both have 12 points. Spooner has played in one less game than Bourque.
Spooner is a very talented center for the Baby B’s with play-making abilities that may land him with the big club if the lockout ends in the near future. He is very slick and creative. Spooner is an offensive-minded puck possessor who always finds the open man.
He makes everyone on his line better and he is showing it in spurts this season under Head coach Bruce Cassidy.
Although he is a minus three while on the ice, Spooner will continue to learn and get better defensively. He is simply too talented to not be in the top three in team points.
