Welcome to the Dunk where the puck has dropped on the 2012-13 AHL regular season as the Providemce Bruins host the Manchester Monarchs. Here is tonights Bruins lineup followed by highlights after the first 20 of play.

    Caron-Camper-Bourque
    Sauve-Spooner-Tardif
    Cunningham-Hanson-Knight
    MacDermid-Whitfield-Robbins

    Krug-Cohen
    Bartowksi-Miller
    Exelby-Warsofsky

    Hutchinson
    Svedberg

The period was dictated for the most part by the Monarchs, but it’s the Bruins who take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. The Bruins got things going first when Jamie Tardif collected a rebound off the pads of Martin Jones, and beat Jones giving the Bruins the lead. The rebound was created thanks a beauty of a move and a perfectly placed shot by Ryan Spooner.

The Bruins had a great chance to extend the lead to two when Matt Bartowski found Carter Camper all alone racing into the zone, but Carter couldn’t sneak one by Jones.

Both teams failed to score on the lone power plays each team had. The best chance on special teams came from Andrei Loktionov who rang the post after a nice shorthanded move. Loktionov has been the best Monarch tonight.

The Bruins outshot the Monarchs 15-9 in the opening frame led by Jamie Tardif who led all skaters with three shots on goal.

The “Baby B’s” were a bit sloppy in their own end in the first, but Michael Hutchinson did a great job keeping the Monarchs off the board.

Be sure to check back with us shortly to find out how the second period here in Providence went.
