DC diary day one
Share
Time to cross another thing off my bucket list as yours truly is on his way to Washington DC to cover Games 3 and 4 of the first round series between the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals from the Verizon Center.
The first part of the journey takes us on the Amtrak Acela from Route 128 station in Westwood up until the final destination at DC’s Union station. Other stops along the way include New Haven CT – going through the Connecticut coast – Penn Station in both New York City and Newark, New Jersey and Philadelphia, just to name a few.
I’ll be updating throughout the day as I try to deal with shaky Internet service on the trip in (shocking, isn’t it?). For now enjoy a quick clip below of Acela arriving at Route 128.
2:43 p.m.
Here are a couple of pics I took on Instagram. One features the skyline of New York while the other is a not so good shot of Philadelphia.
About 45 minutes away until your’s truly arrives in DC. Check back for more updates later…
Update 12:50 a.m. Tuesday morning
So I know I wasn’t able to connect on the updates I had planned on earlier from 3 p.m. on. With my train arriving during rush hour and hitting traffic on my cab ride to my hotel combined with arriving late to the Verizon Center (thanks to Ben Woodward of Hockey Independent for staying patient with this sportswriting hack before meeting up at the arena) made it somewhat impossible for me to accomplish. Nonetheless, I still another update from Instagram to go along with my feature on the Bruins’ Game 3 victory before calling it a night.
With the Washington Wizards occupying the Verizon Center tomorrow, and a lack of practice facilities in the area, the Bruins are off Tuesday but will have media availability at 10 a.m. I’ll be updating some video from the locker room sessions tonight and hope to get a few more interviews to go along with day two of the running diary. Until then…
It looks like you’re closer to the ice and the fans than at the TD,
