Bruins Daily Bruins player of the week: 10/17-10/23

For the second straight week the Bruins played three games and won just one. The Bruins started the week off with a penalty-filled 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The B’s then hosted Phil Kessel and the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday night and put forward one of their better efforts of the year taking down the Leafs 6-2. The week ended Saturday night with a 4-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks.
Unlike last week, this week had a few very good candidates for Bruins Daily Bruins player of the week. A few Bruins players had themselves a pair of multiple point games, and many Bruins picked up their first points of the season, but one Bruin did stand above the others. Despite a tight push from Tyler Seguin who would have won Bruins Daily Bruins player of the week honors for the second straight week, Milan Lucic is this week’s Bruins Daily Bruins player of the week.
Lucic got off to a very slow start this season, but since being paired up with Seguin, Lucic has shown the offensive punch that led him to 30 goals last season. After a pointless effort against the Hurricanes, Lucic bounced back with a three point night against the Maple Leafs, and then a two point night against the Sharks. No. 17 scored a goal in each contest. The line shuffiling has been good for Lucic who has enjoyed playing with the speedy Seguin.
“Yeah, I think the biggest thing is we’re just going out there and playing. I think for myself personally I feel better pursuing the puck and getting on pucks where the first five-six games I felt like a was a second late, a step late getting to pucks where they were able to break out easy because I wasn’t on top of them” said Lucic.” And it’s no secret, Segs [Tyler Seguin] has got some pretty good speed. And it’s just trying to keep up with him has pushed me harder to get my feet moving, and it’s great that we’ve been able to create that chemistry, the three of us, even Kels [Chris Kelly] the last two games
