After 40: Bruins-3 Maple Leafs-1
Share
The Bruins and Maple Leafs end the second period the way they started it with the Bruins holding a 3-1 lead. The Bruins started to sit back a bit and got sloppy towards the end of the period. The B’s need to keep in mind that the Leafs erased a two-goal third period deficit last night against the Jets in their 4-3 shootout win. Heres a recap of what went down in the second peirod.
Steckel takes down Daniel Pallie and the Bruins go back on the power play where they failed to score. Back to the normal power play for the B’s.
The Leafs go on the power play just seconds after killing of the Bruins power play when Chara gets nailed for a very questionable tripping call. The power play didn’t last long after Mikhail Grabovski gets sent to the box for holding Patrice Bergeron’s stick. The 4-4 was short lived thanks to a Johnny Boychuk hook.
After the rash of penalties are killed off, a bad pass by Krejci leads to a break-a-way from Grabovski who was coming out of the box, but Tim Thomas robbed him with a glove save keeping the Bruins lead at two.
Kadri goes to the box for an illegal hit to the head of Steven Kampfer, but for the second straight time the Bruins fail to do anything with it.
Besides the nice place on Chris Kelly’s goal, it’s been the same ol song and dance for Milan Lucic.
The Bruins are lucky to still be up two in this game as the Leafs rang the post twice in the second frame.
