End of 2: Bruins 2 – Sens 1
Share
BOSTON — Two periods in the books; the Bruins came out with a better effort from the end of the first to take a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Nathan Horton scored the Bruins’ goal on the power play just 68 seconds into the middle stanza for his 26th of the season off a rebound. Through two periods, the Senators are outshooting the Black and Gold, 19-17.
- Well, the top line of Horton, Milan Lucic and David Krejci played a much better second period as each played a key role in Boston’s second goal. After Krejci won the faceoff, Lucic fed the puck to Zdeno Chara for a one-timer attempt on Curtis McElhinney. The Sens goalie made the initial stop, but Horton gathered the rebound and you know the rest of the story…
- Horton went into the locker room after his fight with Zack Smith at 9:24 of the second period for an unknown reason, at least to my knowledge. He did return later in the period.
- Tim Thomas has made 18 saves through two periods, which bumps his save percentage to .9377. Currently he is .0011 to Dominik Hasek’s all-time single season save percentage, which stands at .9366.
- The Bruins are 29-2-2 when leading after the second period, while the Sens have a mark of 2-25-5 when trailing after two.
