Share
The Boston Bruins finished the week with a 3-1-0 record, outscoring opponents 20-8, and while sitting in first place in the Northeast Division and third overall in the East with 61 standings points.
There were plenty of players worthy of the ‘Player of the week’ nomination. Here are five, so cast your vote on whom you think was the best of the best last week. And of course, comments are always welcome:
Patrice Bergeron: 2-3-5, plus-5, 14 SOG
No. 37 also won 46 face-offs (64%) for the week, and tops the Bruins’ charts with 39 points through 48 games.
Zdeno Chara: 3-1-4, plus-4, 2 PPP, 15 SOG, 5 hits, 4 blocked shots
Chara netted his first-ever NHL hat trick, joining the likes of Raymond Bourque, Glen Wesley, and a guy named Bobby Orr as the four defensemen in B’s history to net a hat trick.
Brad Marchand: 3-2-5, plus-6, 10 SOG
The front-runner for this year’s Seventh Player Award has really found his groove lined with Mark Recchi and Bergeron.
Tim Thomas: 3-0-0, 1 SO, 1.33 GAA, .964 SV%
Thomas is still head-and-shoulders above any netminder in the NHL for this year’s Vezina. The 36-year-old is the league leader in save-percentage (.945), goals-against average (1.83), and notched his league-leading seventh shutout of the season.
rookie of the year first half hands down
