During a conference call with the media tonight, Boston Bruins general manager confirmed that the recent trade of defenseman Matt Hunwick [$1.45 million] to Colorado cleared enough room off the salary-cap to lift Marc Savard off the long-term injured reserve list.
“This will be enough to activate Marc Savard when he’s ready to play,” said Chiarelli.
Chiarelli also followed up on Savard’s statements from earlier today, regarding a possible activation day of this Thursday night, as the Bruins host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“We monitored how he practiced today, and we’ll see where his condition is,” Chiarelli said. “We’ll make a determination at some point, but nothing definitive.”
