Nice to see that the Matt Cooke thing is over — well, maybe. Shawn Thornton got a few good licks in on No. 24 for putting Marc Savard on the shelf with a Grade 2 concussion. Props to Cooke for obliging within 0:07 after being on the ice in the first. Thornton got an additional 10 minutes for continuing to punch Cooke after the linesmen intervened. [DarrenDreger tweet]
FYI: The Bruins are 13-3-3 when Thornton drops the gloves.
- Bruins are 0-2 on the power play tonight — now making it 1-16 in their last six contests.
- Steve Begin is a perfect 3-for-3 on the face-offs
- Vladimir Sobotka is playing with a purpose tonight. I’m not sure how he could only get credit for one hit that period?
- Milan Lucic leads the Bruins’ way with three hits
- rask has been playing well, stoppinf 4-of-5 Penguins’ shots. The lone-goal coming from Tyler Kennedy (10) — sniping it top-shelf, glove-side on No. 40
