Just after the Bruins 5-1 victory over the Flyers tonight, the Bruins announced that they have assigned defenseman Jeff Penner back to the AHL Providence Bruins. The 22 year-old Penner was a healthy scratch tonight, but made his Bruins/NHL debut on Tuesday, Mar. 9 at the Air Canada Centre against the Maple Leafs. The 5’10” blue-liner logged 9:17 in his debut over 13 shifts.
With the assignment, this could be a hint that Andrew Ference is close to returning.
